Los aspectos legislativos del gasto público en México, 1970-1996
Abstract
Public spending is one of the main instruments of public policy for achieving the objectives of national development. However, different indicators suggest that legislative control over this area of economic policy has been deficient and insufficient, and this has contributed to corruption in the government and to various economic crises that the country has suffered in recent decades. This essay explores the role of the Chamber of Deputies in the budgetary process and suggests some political, judicial and technical variables that might explain the backwardness of legislative supervision in Mexico.Downloads
