Abstract

Since the last decade, the middle and upper middle classes, historically urban, have been the key players in a process of private sub–urbanization in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires. This phenomenon is highly significant in analyzing the development of socio–cultural aspects and their interrelationship with the dynamic of Argentina’s social reality, with emphasis on the effects of the intensification of the crisis after the events of December 2001 in the practices and social imagination of the residents of closed sub–urban urbanizations.
