Abstract

This text reviews different experiences of labor reforms adopted during the last two decades in countries with different levels of development, with the aim of identifying the principal underlying approaches and demonstrating the reach of policies and their degree of success. The article considers
the specific nature of the Mexican case from this point of view, identifying the main factors which favor the conservatism that dominates this field and which obstruct the adoption of a comprehensive and innovatory labor reform.
