Abstract

This paper approaches the use of Internet and other media (fax, telephone, letters, post cards) among transnational subjects (foreign men and women studying in Mexico) in order to investigate their role in consolidating a transnational identity, and to elucidate the differences in the use of several media to keep emotional relationships when large distances are at stake. Evidence is presented as to the implementation of complex multimedia strategies to sustain emotional links, among which Internet does not necessarily rank as the most important one.
