Abstract

This article explores the mechanisms of statistical growth of the Pentecostal Methodist Church of Chile, through an institutional analysis approach. This is the largest and the oldest evangelical church in this country.

Through emphasis on the combination of inter-ecclesiastical and contextual factors, the article explains the success of this church, which has enabled it to play a leading role in the articulation the main body of Protestantism in Chile and in the establishment of relationships of patronage with the State from the 'seventies one.
