Para entender el Caribe
Abstract
This article looks at the economic, political and cultural idiosyncrasies that mark the Caribbean countries, with special emphasis on the cases of Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It also covers two of the problems that might be decisive for the future of the region, given the central place that they hold in the agenda of the United States: drug traffic and migration. It is in this context that, finally, the advances and obstacles in the political transition to democracy are examined, presenting the heterogeneity of the respective processes in these three countries as well as their points of convergence.Downloads
