Abstract

Analysis of the evolution of the Peruvian Left from the late 60’s until the 80’s, focusing on the specific causes that explain why socialist ideas in this country developed from believing in a revolution to defending democracy. The author presents a political and intellectual follow-up in which he links the recent Peruvian historical process (from Velasco’s military reformism to the constitutional governments of the 80’s) with the Left’s of ideological reformulation which, as proven in this paper, was never finished, among other reasons because of the breach in the political subject: the United Left.
