Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the level of efficiency in the use of inputs from secondary schools in Mexico at the municipal level during the period 2010-2017. The methodology used is Data Envelope Analysis (DEA) to obtain efficiency in secondary education in its modalities: general secondary, technical secondary, and telesecundaria. The following will be used as inputs: budget, students, teachers, schools, and administrative staff, and as outputs the number of students in levels III (good) and IV (excellent) of the ENLACE and PLANEA standardized tests in the areas of Spanish and mathematics. The results show that the level of efficiency in secondary education in the period 2010 - 2017 was low, having an average efficiency with constant returns of 0.175, with variable returns of 0.27, and scale efficiency of 0.63.
