Abstract

The guiding idea of this paper is that the series of problems associated with youth can be studied and discussed from a background defined by the concept of citizenship. An analytical articulation of this kind is based on a reflection on the meaning of citizenship and on the notion of youth within the theory of discourse. In this way the universal principles of citizenship are restated with a new approach open to multiculturalism. At the same time, young age is studied considering its links with the individual and the collective construction of social representations, questioning systems and behavior forms. This proposal is a conceptual approximation that ends pointing at some concrete issues to reflect on about the articulation between both conditions.
