Abstract

This article contains a proposal for the analysis of the relationship between citizen participation and discourse over the radio based on the study of some news and public opinion programs broadcast in Mexico City. On the one hand it deals with the problem of understanding the processes of the reception and resignification of news within the framework of daily practices and the organization of time in the home; on the other hand, it typifies forms of participation and the strategies used by programs to translate these and include them in their format. From this perspective of analysis, the article argues that the importance of participation in the radio as a medium does not lie in its numerical relevance but rather in the fact that it is strategy for the legitimization of discourse.
